Preparing to welcome the MNLF beloved Chairman, Prof. Nur Misuari after his release from six years of detention.

"WE WILL GIVE FOCUS ON ENHANCING PEACE-BUILDING PROCESSES"

 Bangsamoro News Agency
 29 April 2008

JOLO, SULU – “MNLF commanders, cadres and followers all over the Bangsamoro Homeland  are elated, in fact,  the emotional intensity of happiness is extraordinarily high,  with the news that Brother Nur  is now out on bail from detention.’

This is how Cmdr. Khaid Ajibun, the chairman of the Lupah Sug State Revolutionary Committee of the MNLF, describes the national consciousness  and  feelings of his fellow Bangsamoro, adding that he has been in constant contact with his colleagues, State chairmen and field commanders.

“We are grateful to  the Almighty Allah for the continued blessings and guidance, and the opportunity to be led by Brother Nur as our chairman of the MNLF,’ Cmdr. Khaid said. And  with this new development, he added, they will now give focus on the enhancement of peacemaking and peace-building processes.

“We are all behind Chairman Nur, and we continue to give him the mandate to lead us to total, comprehensive and durable peace – and beyond, Insha-Allah.’ He added that in Lupah Sug (Sulu), he has already instructed his officials to fast-tract the coordination with different committees, people’s organizations and the masses for a grand welcome and thanksgiving affairs.

Lupah Sug and the rest of Mindanao await the MNLF leader’s arrival. Streamers and placards bannering “Welcome Home, His Excellency Chairman Nur Misuari’ are already prepared.

Dr. Nur Misuari, the chairman of the MNLF Central Committee, was allowed last Friday April 25th by the Makati Regional Trial Court Judge Winlove Dumayas  to post bail. He was under detention since January 7, 2002, or to be precise, for six years, 3 months and 18 days.

The Lupah Sug State Revolutionary Committee is one of the more than 30 State Committees of the MNLF. Together with the Special Units, Tasks Forces, Commands, BAF,  instrumentalities, organs and apparatus of the MNLF as well as the impregnable Gausbaugbog they have not wavered in their march to the objectives of the final accord, for peace and development, and under the leadership of His Excellency Chairman Nur Misuari.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the MNLF, Ustaz Murshi Ibrahim, expresses thanks and gratitude to the Heads of government and State of the 57 member Organization of Islamic Conference, to OIC Secretary General Ihsanoglu and to his special envoy Ambassador Sayyed Kassem Al-Masry, and to the OIC Peace Committee for Southern Philippines for their initiatives and support in bringing back peace to the right direction again. He extolled the efforts of the Muslim leaders, particularly their concern for the release of Chairman Misuari.

“We are very much thankful to all of them, especially the Ambassador Al-Masry Peace Mission for doing its best for all of us here in Mindanao,” said Ustaz Murshi.

Ambassador Al-Masry, the special envoy of OIC Secretary General Ekmelleddin Ihsanoglu,  came to the Philippines for the third time just last April 14-19 to talk to the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP) and to the MNLF preparatory to the 3rd Tripartite Meeting in Manila this coming May 26-29, 2008. In his latest peace mission, he met twice lengthily  with Chairman Misuari as well as with high officials of the Philippines, and the GRP Peace Panel.
